Fast Color Bases: (Azoic Diazo Component)

  • The Fast Colour Bases are very widely used in Textile Industry. Dyeing with Naphthols Fast Bases are more economical even compared to Reactive Dyes. Maroon, Blue, Yellow obtained with these products are not possible with any other Dyestuff. The Fastness Property of these products is excellent. Light Fastness is almost as good as 6-7 almost nearer to the Vat Dyes. Fast Colour Bases are also very widely used for African Print / Wax Print.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Fast Color Bases, also called Azoic Diazo Components, are aromatic amine compounds used in azoic dyeing. The base is first diazotised (reacted with sodium nitrite and hydrochloric acid) to form a diazonium salt, which is then coupled with a Naphthol-impregnated fabric to produce an insoluble azo dye directly on the fibre. This reaction generates deep, durable shades on cotton and other cellulosic fibres.
Fast Color Bases require on-site diazotization using sodium nitrite and hydrochloric acid before use, giving the dyer more control but requiring more handling steps. Fast Color Salts are pre-diazotized and stabilised with metal, making them ready to use directly with Naphthols — eliminating the need for chemicals and making them safer and more convenient, especially in smaller dye houses.
Naphthol-Fast Base dyeings offer excellent fastness to washing, perspiration, alkalis, acids, and chlorine. Light fastness is rated 6–7 — nearly on par with Vat Dyes, which are considered the gold standard for fastness. This makes them highly suitable for apparel, home textiles, and African/Wax Print fabrics that require long-term colour durability.
Fast Blue B Base (CI Azoic Diazo Component 48, CI No. 37235) is a widely used azoic diazo component that, when combined with specific Naphthols, produces deep blue shades on cotton. It is also used in its highly purified form as an intermediate in the production of organic pigments, particularly in the synthesis of diazo and azo pigments where purity and minimal metal content are important.
